heavy little objects

according to the news
a child of 8 watched his younger brother drown, helpless,
heavy little thing, as he sunk beneath the surface into
nowhere.
a man now, this heavy little object, blame,
won't let him sleep, his own drowning of sorts.

in other news
a brother lost,
heavy little object at high speeds
flying through air,
thin as the whispers of classmates,
heavy little object this wordlessness.
heavy little object, the grief,
the silent distance that grows between the
living
and the
dead.
